Although I’ve only recently setup my own Facebook Fan Page, I have used the following method to automatically display RSS feeds from blogs across many fan pages. This only takes a few clicks and can really help engage your readers with new published content from your site via Facebook.
Keeping all of your subscribers, followers, friends and contacts informed of all your new posts via different social sites like Google Reader, Twitter and Facebook is essential to maximise your exposure and catch their attention where ever they are on the web. Facebook has now reached 400 million users and is growing faster than ever. Fan Pages allow custom tabs, boxes and settings to display interactive content, therefore they’re a great place to gain more traffic to your website and turn first time Facebook visitors into subscribers of your RSS Feed or even your website’s mailing list.

1. To start, grab your RSS Feed URL.
I use FeedBurner so my Feed is:
http://feeds.feedburner.com/MaxRichardson
2. Log in to Facebook and Search ‘Social RSS’

3. View Application & ‘Allow’ Social RSS
4. Click ‘Facebook Pages’ & ‘Add to Page’

5. Select Fan Page
(I run a few Fan Pages for clients which is why I’ve blurred them out)

6. Enter Feed Details
Enter in a Description and your website link. Then enter a title for your feed, your feed URL into one of the rows available based on the position you want your feed to appear in your Facebook Fan Page Tab.

7. Show Feed on Fan Page Wall (Recommend)
Select the ‘Newsfeeds’ Tab and make sure ‘Yes’ is selected so that your feed display your latest posts on your Fan Page Wall

8. Add Social RSS to a Tab or Box
Go to your Fan Page and click ‘Edit’. Scroll down to Social RSS and click ‘Application Settings’.

Click ‘Add Tab’ or ‘Add Box’ and your RSS Feed will appear as selected.

And that’s it, you’re done!
Get publishing and watch your Facebook fans interact, share and engage in your blog updates.

To Conclude:
What’s great about the Social RSS application is that’s free to use and relatively simple to setup. Have a play with the ‘Display Options’ tab (Step 7 Image) to customise how the published post appears. If you are publishing multiple posts a day you may want to upgrade so that it publishes your feed on a more regular basis – To do this check out the ‘Refresh Rate’ tab (Step 7 Image). One disadvantage to Social RSS is that you cannot white label the application, which is downside if you’re creating a feed for a client that wants it self-branded.
I hope this HOW TO tutorial provides valuable information for those of you that are looking to engage more with your fans more and ultimately send more traffic back to your blog or website via Facebook!

Hey Max,
Once again you provide us with some useful information.
I had never thought of having a ‘fan’ page on Facebook, thinking that this should be used for the famous folk on the site to promote themselves.
I will certainly now set up a fan base, keep them posted on my new ventures.
Thanks a bunch for this!
